I have zero problem giving an “A+” on this year’s Ravens draft class. They hit every need the team had prior to the draft and not only that, got solid players who could step in and contribute right away as rookies. The Ravens are annual Super Bowl contenders and the addition of these nine players could be what it takes to get to the Big Game.

Wilkerson is a big body, reminding some of former Raven Trevor Pryce. He can plug the middle and rush the passer from the outside. Dowling is the bigger, more physical corner that the Ravens have not had since Chris McAlister. Gates is that speed receiver that the team did not have to stretch the field. Matthews is a good run-stuffer and should be able to lose a few pounds to help him drop back into coverage. Wright, Keo and Havili will add needed depth and help on Special Teams, while Tyrod Taylor offers a bunch of options as a reserve QB with great legs and a strong arm.

The top three guys will make an immediate impact in 2011 and if the Ravens are actually able to replicate this draft, Ravens fans should make plans to be in Indy in February!
